About

Hey there, I’m Joanne Rose!

I’m an award-winning Australian-American screenwriter and producer, playwright, and founder of Sweetest Pit Bull Productions.

I create original stories for stage and screen, driven by a love for writing underdog characters across multiple genres.

My screenplays have received international acclaim, earning awards and official selections in festivals and competitions in the US and UK. As a playwright, I’m part of the Writers’ Card community at Royal Court Theatre and the Creators Program at Young Vic in London. My short play, Tall Poppies, was selected for publication in the international literary journal, Umbrellas for Fish, celebrating dramatic writing, which will be published in November 2026.

An extract from my debut full-length play, Seasons of You, performed in England at the Play/Test Scratch Night at The Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham, Liverpool Scratch Network, and The Sunday Fix at Arches Lane Theatre in London.

Seasons of You will receive its world premiere at Unity Theatre in Liverpool, England, on January 15, 2027. Click here for more information.

I’ve been featured in leading theatre and writing publications, including NIDA Open (Australia) Stage Whispers (Australia) and Writers & Artists (UK).

I trained in screenwriting at RMIT University (The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology), as well as playwriting and set design through NIDA Open (National Institute of Dramatic Art) in Australia.

I’m a member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain.
